Low Polygon Sculptures
In 2008 I created my first low polygon sculpture in cardboard in the form of a 17’ tall reproduction of my Gandhi avatar from Second Life. Since that time I have created a number of works in cardboard, corrugated plastic and using 3D printing technologies. Often the larger works have been built on site with students and community volunteers. The ability to transform basic 3D models, often developed from extracted data from video games, allows for the creation of complex objects that speak to the temporality of the digital while also reflecting or examining real world issues and content.

"Cardboard Gandhi", 2008, low polygon cardboard reproduction of my Gandhi avatar from the "Salt Satyagraha" performance in Second Life, created onsite at Eyebeam Art and Technology, NYC.

"Thoughts and Prayers", 2022 Cardboard, collaboration with Pete Froslie. Visitors to SUMA, Utah, were invited to write the names of victims of mass shootings upon the surface of the sculpture.

"Liberty Weeps", 2015 Cardboard, series of sculptures created locally with volunteers.

"Taliban Hands", 2011, corrugated plastic created from extracted avatar data from the game Medal of Honor.
