This exhibition originated at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. A new work, however, was commissioned by SUMA for the exhibition. I worked onsite with collaborator Pete Froslie and volunteers to create a new version of “Thoughts and Prayers”, a 13 foot long cardboard sculpture of an AR15 assault rifle. The work is a participatory memorial; visitors to the museum were invited to write the names of mass shooting victims upon the surface of the sculpture. “Thoughts and Prayers” has been acquired by SUMA for their permanent collection.
